The Role
SLH is searching for a full-time Sales Manager – Australia & New Zealand in Sydney. This role reports to the Director of Sales – Asia Pacific & Senior Vice President Asia Pacific and, in their absence, to the Head of Reservations Worldwide & Area Manager (AU & NZ) on administrative matters in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Travel
- Increase production for designated corporate accounts by servicing existing business relationships through on-site visits; independent sales blitzes and with member hotels; distribution of collateral/tactical promotions; and new member hotel recommendations
- Develop and grow new accounts within the corporate market segment through building brand awareness and relationships with key contacts; and member hotel recommendations
- Drive qualified and quantifiable revenue via the SLH core channels: GDS, withIN Programme, TravelHub Website, VIP Desk and Global Sales Offices
- Manage centralised corporate RFP programme alongside Senior Director of Corporate Sales in New York to utilise Lanyon and other third-party RFP tools
- Maintain constant communication with Corporate Sales Team globally to ensure total account coverage for member hotels
- Work alongside Senior Director of Corporate Sales and Distribution Manager to manage rate loading process
- Attend professional and industry meetings, tradeshows and events within ANZ to elevate brand awareness and identify potential new corporate accounts
- Establish strong working relationship with American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) and preferred partners in ANZ and participate in any relevant workshops/business related events in ANZ
- Build and nurture relationships with member hotels by providing training and assistance, as required
- Establish and maintain consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials and events
- Ensure high level of customer service to internal (member hotel) and external (corporate) clients
- Work closely with Corporate Sales team in New York and Director of Sales – Asia Pacific with regards to regional corporate accounts, and Revenue Account Managers to support member hotels within corporate negotiated segment
Leisure Travel
- Maintain and grow comprehensive database of key clients in significant markets within ANZ
- Build niche database of key luxury travel clients in new and emerging markets
- Mix of office-based database and relationship management while visiting key clients
- Develop strategic alliances with leisure travel trade and preferred partners in ANZ
- Build up a strong relationship with American Express TLS and participate in workshops and other business-related events in ANZ
- Formulate business plans, implement effective sales strategies and conduct business reviews to increase revenue for member hotels and the brand
- Assist with existing and developing client relationships and new business opportunities
- Monitor competitive activities by constantly improving market intelligence and by implementing pro-active sales initiatives in ANZ
- Work closely with the Event Manager Worldwide to manage and conduct road shows, client events and trade shows in ANZ
Primary Functions
- Room Night/Revenue Generation: Directly responsible for reservation and revenue volume increases from the corporate, consortia, leisure and group travel market which includes the following sources: travel managers, corporate on-sites, corporate travel agencies for negotiated accounts as well as leisure travel agents
- Presentation: Effectively present SLH brand to key corporate travel managers, leisure travel agents and group planners during various market events and sales activities
- Leadership: Provide clear direction, training and assistance to member hotels, as required
- Strategy and Planning: Key contributor to the long-term sales strategy within Asia Pacific region
- Analysis: Fully monitor and evaluate all activities to assess areas of market need, re-evaluate poorly performing programmes, and make recommendations for the future as well as to right-fit SLH member hotels
- Administration and Database Management: Ensure all activities are run efficiently and effectively; and deliver reports and expenses in a timely manner
Policies and Procedures: Ensure adherence to SLH policies and procedures worldwide
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experienced sales professional, with minimum of five years either on-property or regional level within corporate and leisure sectors
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum supervision
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and should be comfortable liaising with Hotel Owners, General Managers and high-end clients
- Good knowledge of Lanyon, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and preferably Salesforce and Sabre/SynXis
- Creative and enthusiastic with a willingness to share new ideas
- Must be flexible with working hours to ensure completion of projects
- Frequent international/domestic travel
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance
