Introducing Wyoming

The great American West is epitomised within Wyoming’s borders, which span from prairie plains in the east of the state to the stunning peaks of Yosemite National Park in the west. Lovers of nature and outdoor sports will be in heaven, with endless opportunities not just to view natural beauty but to climb it, raft it, hike it and horse ride through it as well. This may also be the state to catch a real cowboy in action at the rodeo, but it’s also the perfect place to relax into a luxurious Wild West escape.

Things to do

NATURE
Wyoming hosts some of America’s most renowned wild places, so have your best camera at the ready. Home to towering peaks, thick forests and famous geological features like the Old Faithful geyser, Yellowstone National Park covers millions of acres of wilderness, and possibilities for camping, walking or simply gazing in awe are endless. Escape to nearby Jackson Hole, surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and known for its beauty, to spot wild American elk. Just above Jackson is Grand Teton National Park, with its picture-perfect jagged, snowy peaks.

SPORTS
You’re spoilt for choice of sportive adventure in Wyoming. Hike in the Grand Tetons, or ride on horseback through the Jackson valley. Try white water rafting on the Snake River for something more daring, or go mountain biking or rock climbing in Yellowstone. After roaming wild and free sink into the warmth of some of Wyoming’s hot springs for luxurious relaxation.

CULTURE
Perhaps the most well known part of Wild West culture is the rodeo. It’s more than a sport in Wyoming – it’s a way of life. Professional cowboys and girls make a living riding broncos and bulls, and if you get a chance to see them in action, do. But cowboys don’t just ride bulls – in Cody they sing as well – catch the cowboy ballads in this Yellowstone border town. Or for something a little more refined, visit Wyoming during the Yellowstone Jazz Festival.
