Visit surrounding beaches such as Omaha to see where the Allied forces landed on D Day, or the vast cemeteries with their humbling rows of white crosses. Looking further back in time, nearby Bayeux is home to the Bayeux Tapestry, the ambitious, hand-stitched depiction of William the Conqueror’s invasion of England in the 11th century.
