Introducing Frankfurt-am-Main

For a splash of cosmopolitan living, Frankfurt-am-Main doesn’t disappoint. With a horizon sprinkled with skyscrapers, streets full of museums and a vibrant nightlife, it oozes sophistication and style. And with the Stock Exchange at its heart, this is a city that buzzes with energy.

Things to do

CULTURE
Frankfurt has museums to rival Berlin, and you can fill a whole city break wandering the city’s many galleries and cultural hotspots. Stop by the Museum für Moderne Kunst for popular works by Lichtenstein. Or, for a flavour of the city’s literary heritage, pay a visit to the restored childhood home of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

HISTORY
Frankfurt blends the ancient with the contemporary, as towering skyscrapers sit beside grand Baroque architecture. Spend some time in Römerberg plaza and get a flavour for the city’s medieval past. Or take a moment to enjoy the serenity of Frankfurter Dom – a striking Gothic cathedral with Roman roots. For something a little more recent, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange offers fascinating tours.

FOOD & DRINK
Before returning to your luxury hotel in the evening, stop by a tavern to sample the local apfelwein. If you see an evergreen wreath hanging on the door, you’ll know the tavern has fresh wine. Join a bench, order a jug and share with your companions.

Top Tip from SLH

Frankfurt may be metropolitan, but the city is peppered with green spaces. Stroll along the pretty riverside promenade and escape into the park nearby.
