LUXURY HOTELS IN Montenegro

Introducing Montenegro

Some see it as one of Europe’s last off-the-beaten-track destinations. Others have long hailed Montenegro’s charms. Either way, this affable Adriatic pearl is a small country with a big personality – plus stunning coastline, dramatic mountains and fragrant forests.

Practical Information

Capital city
Podgorica

Currency
The Euro in €5, €10, €20, €50 and €100 notes.

Cuisine
Expect influences from Eastern Europe, Italy, Serbia and Hungary. Snack on burek – savoury filled pastries. Warm up after skiing with cheese- and ham-stuffed Njeguski steak or ispod saca stews, and enjoy a taste of the coast with cuttlefish risotto.

Tipping etiquette
With the gentle growth of tourism here, tipping is becoming more common.

Saying hello
“Zdravo”… often accompanied by a hearty handshake, and occasionally a hug.

When To Go

Montenegro heats up in July and August as locals flocks to the beaches. It’s still warm until October, however, and in the early part of summer you’ll find towns much quieter. And if skiing is on the agenda, take to the hills from November until spring.
