A collection of contemporary country hideaways on a Cotswolds hillside

Welcome to a country estate quite unlike any other. Forget stately manor and stuffy manners – The Fish Hotel brings you back to nature in boutique hotel style. Its quirky name is inspired by the Cotswolds legend of a local monastery that stored their fish within the cool caves deep under its hillside setting. Today, this village-style collection of houses, huts and hideaways is made for laid-back luxury breaks.

Set within the 400-acre Farncombe Estate, The Fish Hotel is surrounded by quintessential Cotswolds views. Inside, classic country styling meets pared-back, Scandi chic design. Cosy up in a room or suite in one of the hotel houses. Seek the seclusion of a luxury shepherd’s hut with its own hot tub. Or wander the woods from a contemporary treehouse. Just make sure to find your way to Hook for a seafood feast in elegant yet easy-going surrounds. If you’re in the mood for something even more relaxed, enjoy a bite at the bar.

From a dog agility course to a woodland playground perfect for kids, The Fish Hotel is full of ideas for getting out and about. Bring your dog along for a weekend of country walks. But it’s just as much fun to stay in beside the fire, glass of wine or local gin & tonic in hand.

Enjoy your stay!

Amazing hotel that has thought of everything

We had an amazing stay at The Fish hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel itself is lovely, super clean and modern yet cosy decor. We stayed in a Small Suite and it was spacious enough for 2 adults and a baby. All the staff were friendly and approachable, the food at both dinner and breakfast Read more[SPLIT]Read lesswas really nice and service was acceptional. There were so many little things throughout the hotel that made the stay extra special like the boot room and wellies that you could borrow, the lounge with board games, outside area with lights and comfy sofas, the beach, the mini bar/sweets. We didnt take our dog however we defintiely will next time as the hotel is very dog friendly, with breakfast set up in the bar lounge area for dog owners with the each table given a dog bed to ensure your dog if comfy. I thought this was a really nice touch! We are already looking at our next trip to the Cotswolds and will defintiely stay at The Fish again.

A wonderfully relaxing weekend

I booked this stay at The Fish to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. He had told me he wanted somewhere to 'get away from it all' and he loves a rural setting while I prefer to be in reach of a town/city so this fit the brief perfectly. As soon as you drive into the Farncombe Estate the outside world Read more[SPLIT]Read lessfeels miles away - it's a beautiful setting with amazing views. As one of three hotels on the estate, I chose The Fish because I loved the concept of rooms/huts/treehouses being scattered around the hillsides rather than being in one building. Experiencing this in person, this was even more impressive. Our Medium Luxe room was based within its own individual coach house - which felt incredibly private and romantic - and we loved that we could choose to stay there and order pizza (is there any better room service food?) or wander five minutes down to the bar and restaurant. The room itself was impressive - spacious, warmly decorated with plenty of thoughtful touches, including a handwritten welcome note. The bathroom was huge, with both a freestanding bath and huge shower and double sinks. I loved having a cosy robe and slippers to snuggle up in, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We also liked that we had access to fresh milk to make hot drinks in our room - just another one of those little touches that makes a difference. This being a special occasion, I had booked Hook - for my fish and seafood-loving husband - and it didn't disappoint. The service was a touch slower than we might have liked as we visited at peak time, but the food was worth the wait. As tempting as it is to stay in your lovely room, I would highly recommend a visit. Breakfast is also served here and it is one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. We had to leave early on our second morning so we didn't get time for breakfast which was extremely disappointing. The service at breakfast was absolutely spot-on, with regular checks to make sure we had our fill of tea and toast! Despite barely hearing or seeing a soul while we were in our room, we loved arriving to the central lodge where the main facilities are based to find a buzzing yet relaxed atmosphere, and we were sorry we didn't get a chance to spend more time in the bar/lounge during our stay. Every member of staff we encountered - on reception, in the bar/restaurant, housekeeping - was so warm and friendly, we felt genuinely welcome. We were particularly impressed with housekeeping, who on visiting our room for the second time - at around 1pm - to find us still there, told us "you relax and don't worry, we'll be back after 3pm if that suits." And sure enough, when we returned after a visit to Broadway, the room had been cleaned and tidied beautifully. We genuinely did not want to leave this wonderful place, and we booked a return visit on the day we got home!
