The Wilder Townhouse

A charming city hideaway just a stone’s throw from the delights of city-central Dublin

Though its smart red-brick façade might make rather a grand first impression, The Wilder Townhouse couldn’t be a more welcoming city stay. Thoughtfully renovated to evoke its Victorian roots, this luxury boutique hotel is bold, comfortable and beautiful. What’s more, it’s only a short walk from the heart of Dublin, so you can go from city buzz to lights out in minutes.

Inside, the rooms and suites fuse a modern minimalist style with original period features, but comfort takes top billing. Think parquet floors and generous king size beds, vibrant prints and walk-in rainforest showers. Downstairs, pull up a velvet-clad chair and tuck into a hearty breakfast in the bright and airy Garden Room. Or peruse Irish gins and whiskeys in the Gin and Tea Rooms, where you can also enjoy charcuterie boards, toasties and fresh tea and coffee throughout the day.

When you’re not relaxing on your chaise longue, simply decide which Dublin gem to see first. Just an amble down the cobbled streets of Temple Bar will give you a flavour for its lively nature, though the city’s literary and artistic heritage is second to none. Delve into the lives of James Joyce or Oscar Wilde, see European and Irish art at the National Gallery, or step aboard a vintage bus to see historic sites from on high. A perfectly blended brew – or craft gin and tonic – will be waiting at The Wilder on your return.

Enjoy your stay!

A lovely place with lovely people

This was my first visit to the Wilder and already I am looking forward to returning. Staff were most helpful throughout my stay and were friendly and eager to give the best possible service. The room, designed with a nod to the past, had everything I needed and I really liked the Alice in Wonderland Read more[SPLIT]Read lesstea cups and saucers. Breakfast was delicious - I decided to have the tasty grilled kippers with vine tomatoes and the most scrumptious hot croissants. A real gem of a place!

Spectacular!

The room was lovely and clean, the location superb (located a short walk to all the best restaurants and tourist attractions), service was absolutely impeccable. It's quite a hip hotel.

Fabulous oasis

The location is perfect for exploring Dublin on foot and the townhouse looks good as you approach and is even better once inside. Hard to sum up the atmosphere - comfortable, friendly, unstuffy peaceful - something of all of these. Our bedroom was small but suited us perfectly and the turndown service Read more[SPLIT]Read lesswas much appreciated. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay so booked to return before we left : )

Lovely hotel

This hotel is in a very quiet area of Dublin but within easy walking distance of parks, shopping, restauarants, bars & nightlife. Its a great hotel. Whilst our room was small (we did book a small double!) it was adequate for a short stay and breakfast and its service was exceptional.

Great small boutique hotel!

The Wilder Townhouse is a bit out of downtown but we loved the walk into town. The rooms were good, bathroom a bit small (no hairdryer) but the room had an old charm feel, the bed was great. The breakfast staff was the best staff we came across in our 3 week trip across Europe, breakfast was amazing Read more[SPLIT]Read lessand the lounge for drinks was wonderful with great service as well.

Charming with a convenient location

I stayed on my own, but would recommend it for a couple or a family visit as well. The location is convenient: about 15 minutes to attractions like The Little Museum of Dublin and 20 min to Trinity College. The hop on-hop off buses stop in both of those areas, too so it's easy access to their circuits. Read more[SPLIT]Read less Breakfast was great and the staff in the dining room were very pleasant and accommodating. The rooms are well-appointed and the bathrooms feel luxurious. I highly recommend The Wilder and would definitely stay again. While I did not drive, I'll note that the parking lot was somewhat small so be aware of that. There is a lot of public transportation in Dublin as well as taxis so I didn't find that driving was necessary for regular sight-seeing.

Great location with an easy walk to the city centre but far enough out for a little quiet.

We spent a lot of our time out at city attractions and the hotel was ideally located and a great place to rest before heading out again

So well looked after

I loved how well I felt looked after by every staff member I came into contact with. Superb breakfast, comfortable rooms with dreamy pillows and lots of little extras that make you feel very special. Highly recommend.

Our New Very Special Hotel

We are regular travelers to Dublin, and this is our new favorite hotel. In a world of chain properties pretending to be "boutique," The Wilder is the real deal with independent style and classy substance. From the moment we arrived, we felt like part of the family. Our suite ("Lady Audley") was small Read more[SPLIT]Read lessbut well-appointed, spotless and extremely comfortable. We also loved the quiet, but central Dublin location and the rare treat of the residents' only gin bar and breakfast room. Although there is no full service restaurant at The Wilder, the staff gave excellent local recommendations (we liked Peploe's, The Winding Stair and The Richmond) which, along with a lovely daily breakfast and "light bites" served all day, ensured we were happily fed. If you are looking for understated luxury, warm, inviting service and a most relaxing atmosphere, The Wilder has it all. Thanks to Rosilex, John and the whole Wilder staff for a very special stay -- we can't wait to come back!

Friendly, welcoming staff.

My wife and I had a delightful four-night stay at the Wilder where we felt truly pampered. We were welcomed with complimentary cocktails and enjoyed excellent breakfasts with various hot options such as porridge, eggs royale and eggs Benedict. When I asked reception for some teabags, they sent up a Read more[SPLIT]Read lesspot of freshly brewed tea. Fresh bottles of still and sparkling water were placed in the room every day and the evening turn-down service placed chocolates on our bed each night. The best part was the friendly and knowledgeable staff in the breakfast room. Would definitely stay here again!
