Things to do
BEACHES
Fit for the silver screen, the beaches are where Raa Atoll shines. Sip cocktails on the sand at sunset, swim in azure waters and curl up with a book in the shade of tall green palms. For a mesmerising natural light show, take to the shores of Vaadhoo Island at dusk and watch the blue-green glow of the tide as plankton luminesce in the surf.
NATURE
Manta rays, turtles, reef sharks – Raa Atoll has it all. The diverse ecosystem of the Maldivian archipelago gives life to a huge variety of exotic underwater species. And the wildlife on land is equally intriguing – on one island look up into the canopies for flying foxes and white terns, on another spot geckos, skinks and lizards sunning themselves on rocks.
WATER
Scuba diving is a mainstay in the Maldives, and Raa Atoll is no exception. The topography of the reefs and the array of submerged islands makes for a stunning underwater playground. The Labyrinth is an especially popular dive site, with triggerfish, napoleons and large rays drifting between canyons and tunnels.
