Things to do
BEACH
Beach-bums won’t be disappointed by Cabo’s supreme selection of sand. Medano Beach is bustling and fun – grab a margarita and turn people-watching into an all-day pastime. Playa del Amor – secluded, serene and only accessible by water taxi from the marina – is as romantic as its name suggests. Don’t forget your mask and snorkel before you head to Santa Maria Beach, where gem-coloured fish live in their droves. While the calm, clean, protected waters of Chileno Beach make it perfect for families.
WATER
Many of Cabo’s highlights are best experienced from the Pacific. Between December and April you might be lucky enough to see migrating humpback and gray whales as they head to the tropical waters for breeding season. Head out on a boat tour to get as close as possible without disturbing the animals. A boat’s-eye-view is also a great way to take in El Arco – a three-story tall granite rock formation where the Pacific meets the Gulf of California, and a favourite hangout for sealions.
SPORTS
Jet-skiing, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and deep-sea fishing are just a few of the water-based sports on offer from Cabo’s golden shores. Prefer to keep your feet dry? Cabo is a bucket-list golfing destination. Tee off at the Cabo del Sol Desert Course between cacti, against a Sea of Cortez backdrop. Or take on the cliffside challenges of the Jack-Nicklaus-designed Quivira Golf Club. Of course, some see shopping as a sport – flex those credit-card-wielding muscles in downtown Cabo and the Marina, or head to San José del Cabo for unique galleries, arts and crafts.
