Introducing Villa La Angostura

With the snow-capped Patagonian Andes in the background, you can see what has made this secluded spot such a relaxing haven for nearly a century. From your private, luxury hotel, stroll through a charming alpine-style village. Sail along the shores of Nahuei Huapi Lake. Or truly get away from it all in the tranquil green forests.

Things to do

DAY TRIPS
Less than two hours drive north of Villa La Angostura is the town of Mirador Del Traful. From here, a boat will take you to the Bosque Sumergido, where you’ll witness the mysterious spectacle of submerged cypress trees poking up through the water – the result of a wooded mountain slope sliding into the lake three decades ago.

NATURE
Nature lovers won’t be left wanting in this beautiful part of Argentina’s lake district, home to the Los Arrayanes National Park and its extraordinary rare orangey brown coihues and ñires. Rumour has it that these trees inspired the imaginary forest in Walt Disney’s Bambi movie.

ACTIVITIES
The Rio Correntoso is a popular spot for trout fishing. You could also enjoy a gentle hike to the nearby Cascada Inacayal waterfall. Or for something more challenging, climb to the summit of Cerro Bayo for panoramic views over the Arrayanes.

Top Tip from SLH

Visit the charming wooden shops along the Avenida Arrayanes to discover artisanal treats like chocolate, beer and glistening fresh trout from the Correntoso River.
