Introducing Tarrytown

Meander around Tarrytown and step into the pages of literature. You’ll see many places that featured in the original Legend of Sleepy Hollow short story peppered around the town. The surrounding landscape is beautiful, and you can pick up local produce at the charming farmers’ markets.

Things to do

HISTORY
Railroad baron Jay Gould lived in Tarrytown, and his mansion Lyndhurst is now owned by the National Historic Trust. It’s well worth a visit – you’ll find themed events that are fun for all the family throughout the year.

LANDMARKS
The Old Croton Aqueduct passes through the iconic landscape of New York State. You can walk along this old railway line, or hire bikes from your luxury hotel and escape into the countryside.

FESTIVALS
Tarrytown’s neighbouring village, Sleepy Hollow, featured in a renowned ghost story by Washington Irving, and a film by Tim Burton. As Halloween approaches, the locals hold spooky events to get everyone good and frightened – so October here can be a treat.
