Things to do

SPORT
Winter in Grossarl is, of course, ski season, when the valley and its surrounding peaks are blanketed in snow. There are numerous fine runs for skiers of every standard, and you can also try snowshoe hiking. In summer, miles of glorious walking trails emerge. Plus there are exciting mountain biking and climbing opportunities, not to mention eight golf courses in easy reach.

FOOD & DRINK
From hearty Austrian cuisine served in a friendly timbered ambience, to exquisite fine dining. Ice cold local beers on a sunny terrace, high in the mountains, to warming cups of Glühwein to fend off the crisp winter chills. This alpine escape provides an especially satisfying kind of dining.

HISTORY
The beautiful location of Grossarl is known as the ‘valley of the alms’ – alms being the lush mountain pastures that you’ll find in abundance. They are the very reason that the ‘Grosserltal’ was first settled by farmers, centuries ago. Today it remains an unspoilt part of alpine Austria.
