Things to do
SPORTS
Days in Borovets are made for getting out in the open air. In the winter months, get an early start to get the gondola up to the high Markudjik ski area for challenging runs and off-piste routes. Or stay lower on the mountain to explore the Sitnyakovo area, with its scenic forest runs. In the warmer months, lace up your hiking boots to discover mountain meadows and forest trails. Or up the adrenaline with rock climbing or mountain biking experiences.
NATURE
Borovets is set within the Rila mountains, with its dramatic landscapes of plunging glacial valleys, ancient pine forests and sky-scraping mountain peaks. This is one of Europe’s remaining wildernesses, home to grey wolves, brown bear, wild cats and pine martens. Visit Rila National Park to see crystalline lakes and the photo-worthy Skavavitsa waterfall. And you’re a keen birder, keep your binoculars handy to spot golden eagles and boreal owls.
