LUXURY HOTELS IN Bergerac

Introducing Bergerac

Each street seems to open out onto a pretty square, where you’ll find cafés just waiting for you to sit down and relax. Bergerac has its own tourist trail that you can follow from landmark to landmark. Look out for two statues of Cyrano de Bergerac as you go. Although he isn’t from the town, he’s become something of a local figure.

Things to do

CULTURE
Bergerac’s prosperity came from wine and tobacco, so it’s no surprise that there are museums here dedicated to both. Stroll around the Maison des Vins, situated in a beautiful 17th-century cloister. Or find your way through the three floors of the Tobacco Museum at the Peyrarede House.

WATER
Bergerac is situated on the Dordogne River, which makes for a pleasant and picturesque riverside stroll. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also hire kayaks to travel further into the French countryside.

DRINK
The white wines are fruity and dry. While the reds are full-bodied and dark. Bergerac is just to the east of the Bordeaux wine region, and the vintages on offer here are first class. Sit at a café and enjoy a glass at you watch the world go by.

Top Tip from SLH

Although the wine museum is closed on Mondays, visit to wander the cloisters in seclusion. Impromptu concerts are held here during the summer, and markets in the winter months.
