Introducing Cannes

Walk cobbled streets and marvel at the views of the Mediterranean. Or simply weigh anchor at a café and watch the glamorous world go by before heading back to your boutique hotel. Cannes may be a favourite destination of international stars, and the capital of chic, but it still retains the charm of the humble fishing village that it once was.

Things to do

Many of the stretches of sand in Cannes are private, so you may find yourself sunbathing beside the glitterati. The public beaches are busier as a result, so why not take a boat trip out to the Iles de Lérins. These two islands in the bay have excellent beaches too.

If you want to spot A-list actors and world-famous movie directors, then a trip to the Cannes Film Festival is a must. Celebrities stand for photos and interviews at the Palais des Festivals throughout the month of May. And it’s a great opportunity to see some cutting-edge films.

La Croisette is shopping hub in Cannes, but you’ll find plenty of luxury and exclusive shops along its length. And with the beauty of the old town all around you, it’s lovely just to stroll along. Simply step out from your luxury hotel and enjoy.

Top Tip from SLH

Venture out to the Rue Meynadier in the old district for a taste of more traditional cuisine, and stunning views of the town too.
