LANDMARKS
Monuments don’t come much better than this. The Valley of the Temples is exactly that, five ancient Greek temples, one after the other, with ruins as evocative and as well preserved as anything you’d find in Athens. Stroll the ruins, then hot foot it to the Archaeological Museum to put them all into context.

Ever wondered what a mixture of French, Italian and Greek food might taste like, all in one meal? Well you should come to Agrigento. You’ll find mouthwatering snacks on sale in the tavernas, as well as fine dining with everything from moussaka to succulent mozzarella salads.
FESTIVALS
Every February Agrigento hosts the Almond Blossom Festival to welcome in the spring. But you could call every evening a festival here too, as locals stroll down the Via Atena doing the ‘passeggiata’. In other words, a little evening promenading.
If you plan to spend some time looking at the ruined temples, bring a sun hat or a parasol for a welcome break from the bright Mediterranean sun.
