Things to do
BEACHES
Closer to Africa than Europe, Sardinia boasts warm, azure waters and pure sands. Bask in the sun in a secluded cove, or get out on the water with a private sailing tour. Beyond the beaches, vivid green trees cling to the rocks. Climb up to jutting outcrops, topped with conical nuraghi fortresses for sweeping views out to sea.
FOOD
Sardinia is a foodie’s paradise, with the finest in Italian cuisine mixed with traditional specialities. Pack a picnic of light and airy hand-baked bread and local pecorino, and head to the beach. Feast on dishes of just-caught seafood and fresh pasta, or turn dining into an event with ‘maialetto’, Sardinian roast piglet.
DAY TRIPS
If you can tear yourself away from the glorious beaches, Sardinia won’t disappoint. Journey to the south of the island to visit the mysterious Montessu Necropolis – an ancient system of tombs, known as ‘fairy houses’, set in a natural amphitheatre. Or you could charter a private yacht for a spot of island hopping, keeping the camera ready to snap dolphins as you go.
