Salamantinos make the most of lunch, and restaurants can get busy between 1pm and 3pm. Come the evening, it’s all about tapas and snacks. You’ll find the best tapas bars on Van Dyck Street.
WATER
Salamanca is on the river Tormes, and one enjoyable way to see the sights on a city break is by canoe or paddle boat. You can hire boats on the river opposite the Cathedral.
LANDMARKS
Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in the world, and the ancient buildings are studded throughout the town. The House of Shells is also worth a visit. This 15th-century building is decorated with 350 shells.
