Old-world hospitality meets modern-day luxury in this restful Daylesford retreat
Wind your way along a red-brick path through flowering gardens and The Dudley Boutique Hotel springs into view. Outside, the building is all fresh white fretwork and wisteria that lends it a home-from-home feel. Yet while comfort is high on the agenda at The Dudley, this is very much a contemporary luxury escape.
The original 1908 house has been refreshed for 21st century stays – and the old jamming shed reborn as the Cottage. But heartfelt hospitality and a sprinkling of vintage features preserve its heritage. The breakfasts alone are worth the visit. Then there’s the virtually impossible to leave beds, leather reading chairs and log fires, DVD and paperback libraries, works by regional artists, nothing-too-much-trouble service and countless thoughtful touches.

If you only venture out once, make it to the Hepburn Bathhouse Complex to bathe in the mineral waters and refresh with one-of-a-kind spa treatments. Or you could head out hiking, stopping for supplies at local farmers’ markets – or with a Dudley picnic and directions to wild and wonderful lunch locations. For something a little more relaxed, winery visits and restaurant bookings can easily be arranged.
Enjoy your stay!
