The staff were all very attentive, without being intrusive. The spa treatments were a very high standard. The lunchtime food and afternoon tea in the lounge were very relaxing. The restaurant offered a simple selection of quality dishes.

Food in the main restaurant was fantasic. Grounds and building were beautiful. Only critisim was the bed was two singles pushed together creating a ridge in the middle. Apart from that couldnt fault it. All the staff were very polite

The hotel is a large hotel in the middle of what remains of the Ashdown Forest. It is a delightful position. It has a golf course attached to the hotel. We were upgraded to large rooms opposite the golf course (2 minutes walk from the main hotel). The large rooms were well appointed and clean. The hotel Read more[SPLIT]Read lessitself has about 100 bedrooms and it appeared to be fully booked because it was beginning of half term holidays. Having said that, the place did not appear to be overrun by children although there appeared to be quite a few at breakfast. The hotel is handling the Covid pandemic well. I would recommend it if you wanted a break in the UK. We did try dinner at the restaurant attached the spa. It was perfectly okay although a little mundane. We also had dinner at the main restaurant in the hotel. I think it was expensive for what it was but they tried hard.

We found all of the staff very welcoming and knowledgeable, the room was fantastic and in general it was lovely to see so many period features kept as this just added to the whole experience. The food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble-there were maps and tips for some good walks as well Read more[SPLIT]Read lessas fish food to feed the fish in the lake! We used the spa and found the lounge very calm and comfortable, the spa therapists were very knowledgeable and gave us both excellent massages and facials. We will definitely return!
