A superb refurbishment of an impressive 19th-century fortress has resulted in a captivating and singular, adults-only boutique hotel overlooking the Bay of Palma. Set in 88 acres and stretching along the coastline for two kilometres, Cap Rocat Mallorca is a spectacular hotel providing a collection of stunning rooms and suites, a selection of magical dining venues, private rock cliff beach with direct access to the sea, jetty and salt water pool.

Both the architecture and setting of Cap Rocat is sensational. Wonderfully secluded with a drawbridge, bunkers and suites in former shooting buttresses, the atmosphere is both historic and romantic. Treading gently on its coastal setting — which is a designated Natural Area of Special Interest — Cap Rocat is surrounded by wildlife-filled pine forests and underwater Posidonia meadows, both important breeding and nesting grounds for bird and marine species. There are over 50 educational signs around the resort detailing the protected areas, with bicycles and walking maps to borrow and electric boat rentals if you’d like to explore. Guests are invited to contribute €3, which Cap Rocat matches and puts towards ocean conservation projects each year. The hotel is plastic free, working towards becoming zero-waste, and is in the process of installing solar panels.

Built atop the ancient military fortress of Cap Enderrocat, Cap Rocat painstakingly preserved many of the historic site’s architectural features, including transforming bunkers and shooting buttresses into bedrooms and maintaining the former drawbridge. The interiors are a celebration of Mallorcan artistry and heritage, with island palm fibres, Marés stone, and the works of local artisans used throughout, including the hotel’s sustainably curated boutique. You can also learn the traditional art of llata in one of Cap Rocat’s braiding workshops, and visit the nearby museum of Junípero Serra dedicated to the missionary work of the 18th century Franciscan friar.

Wherever possible, Cap Rocat hires its workforce from the island, offering ongoing training and development opportunities (as well as access to therapeutic massages at the hotel’s spa to promote staff wellbeing). When not homegrown in the onsite organic garden, ingredients for the zero-kilometre concept restaurant are sourced from local farmers and fishermen, wines from nearby vineyards, and the minibar stocked with Balearic treats like Mallorcan-made chocolates. Thanks to the hotel’s close relationships with local producers, guests can visit wineries and olive groves for tastings and a neighbouring orchard for nature walks and fig tree talks.

Food And Drinks

Cap Rocat’s main restaurant is located in one of the former central buildings. The cuisine is based on Mediterranean dishes that change according to the season and use products sourced from local ecological farms. The Sea Club, located on the waterfront, in the spectacular “Cala de la Reina”, it is an open-air restaurant which offers dishes cooked in a traditional Mallorcan firewood oven and grill. The Fortress’ former kitchen, in typical Mallorcan style, has been refurbished to offer a private dining room, where wine tastings and cooking classes are organized.

Served Meals: Dinner It is the perfect place to try our Tapas enjoying life music. You can have a sit by the fireplaces in winter time or at the main courtyard of the Fortress in summer time.

THE SEA CLUB

Served Meals: Lunch, Dinner Located on the waterfront- in the spectacular Cala de la Reina- the Sea Club is an open-air restaurant which offers dishes cooked in a traditional Mallorcan firewood oven and grill. The Sea Club Restaurant is open for lunch daily and for dinner between May 15th and October 15th. Please make your reservation in advance by calling us on 971 74 78 78.

Served Meals: Lunch, Dinner Located on the waterfront- Sea Club is an open-air restaurant which offers delicious Mediterranean cuisine by the sea. Specialized in meat- fish and rice dishes the restaurant offers a wide range of fresh and seasonal products.

THE FORTRESS RESTAURANT

Served Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner The luxury of the essentials of Mediterranean gastronomy created by our chef Victor Garcia. The magic of the night in Cap Rocat enchants the gastronomic restaurant La Fortaleza- inside the main building of the fortress in winter or in the main courtyard in the summer with the subtle sound of the fountains. During the summer- an aperitif is served before dinner viewing the sunset from our panoramic terrace.

Served Meals: Dinner A magical and romantic restaurant that has been awarded two Repsol Suns- which adapts its gastronomic offer according to the seasons through two different tasting menus.

Spa

The Spa has been carved on the depths of the fortress, it is located where the former deposit of water was. The focal point is a dramatic saltwater swimming pool, sunk 12m below ground level – yet wonderfully bright. A wide conservatory-style glass ceiling will allow the brilliant Mallorcan sunshine to flood the space by day, while by night, the clear star-filled skies will create a mesmerising place to swim. The vast exposed limestone walls add a touch of drama to the experience.
