Chalets at Blackheath
Alpine chic meets epic adventure in Australia’s rugged Blue Mountains
Modern and well-proportioned, the chalets are a celebration of luxury with an eco-sensitive edge. Think floor to ceiling windows framing breath-taking bush views, oversized bathrooms and twin rainfall showers that cascade UV-filtered mountain water. Design touches from sustainable Australian brands offset the organic interior palette, culminating in a space that’s both opulent and environmentally thoughtful. Light, bright and spacious, it’s the perfect setting for a cosy couples retreat – and an ambient space to opt for an in-room massage.

Make a splash
Adrenaline-hungry beginners can get their hearts racing with an abseiling and canyon day. After an invigorating walk to the top of Empress Falls Canyon you’ll scramble, wade, swim and jump your way through the canyon, with small ‘practise’ abseils along the way. And to finish: a dramatic 30-metre abseil descent down a lively waterfall. Not one for the faint of heart!Beat around the bush
Immerse yourself in the rugged nature of the Blue Mountains with a trail hike. There are bushwalks to suit a range of abilities and interests – discover tumbling waterfalls and escarpments or embark on a vigorous descent through the valley. Spot wildlife and embrace the solitude in this area of immense natural beauty.Independent Minds: Angela O'Connell
In the midst of the Blue Mountains’ UNESCO-listed beauty, adventurer Angela O’Connell came across the perfect setting for her boutique chalets – in less than perfect condition after the Black Summer bushfires had all but burnt out the National Park. Looking past the scorched earth and blackened tree stumps, O’Connell assembled a team of ecologists, bush regenerators, and an expert landscape designer to conserve what was left and encourage native plant regrowth. Today, the wilderness which surrounds Chalets at Blackheath is flourishing, and guests can go off-grid in scented eucalyptus forests, soaring sandstone canyons, and New South Wales’ epic bush-walking trails.
