Château d’Ouchy
A tranquil respite overlooking the lake close to the centre of Lausanne
Nestled on the banks of Lake Geneva with magnificent views across the water, Château d’Ouchy is a striking neo-gothic castle reconstructed in the late 1800s into a hotel. A recent renovation has sensitively brought this gem back to life which now provides 49 delightfully unique rooms and suites, a superb restaurant, an inviting wellness area with a hammam, sauna and a tranquil, tree-shaded outdoor pool - ideal for an afternoon of relaxing and recharging.
Château d’Ouchy’s fabulous setting ensures peace and tranquillity with stylish rooms and suites that retain many period features. The décor and furnishings are crisp and contemporary with smart wood floors that highlight the original marble and stone.
Enjoy lunch on the restaurant terrace overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps in the distance. Alternatively, explore Lausanne’s Old Town with its cathedral and narrow, cobbled streets.

Actively sustainable luxury hotels
Environmentally Conscious
As Lausanne’s closest hotel to Lake Geneva, Château d’Ouchy takes pride in preserving its natural surroundings and biodiverse grounds. Since 2022, the entirety of the hotel’s electricity comes from renewable hydropower, and all organic kitchen waste is collected and transformed into clean energy sources by BioEcoEnergie SA. Alongside the hotel’s extensive recycling scheme, all soap is recycled by Sapocycle, a non-profit organisation offering employment to people with disabilities and striving to improve the sanitary conditions of families in need. In addition to electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle rentals, and an electric boat for lake excursions, guests are given free public transport cards with every night’s stay to use on Lausanne’s metro and bus services.
Cultural Custodians
Originally built in the 12th century and later given a neo-Gothic makeover in the 1800s, Château d’Ouchy is listed as a Swiss cultural heritage site of regional importance, which means any modifications or restorations are subject to strict regulations to preserve its longstanding history. The hotel can help organise guided visits to local heritage sites, including the UNESCO-listed terraced vineyards of Lavaux and the medieval village of Yvoire. As the designated Olympic capital of the world, Lausanne is home to the Olympic Museum and continues to host sporting events and internationally renowned races. Within the hotel’s lobby, there’s a rotating exhibition for local artists to display and sell their work, highlighting Lausanne’s creative community.
Community Minded
During induction, Château d’Ouchy’s team members are given sustainability training in line with the hotel’s EarthCheck certification. The hotel also sponsors employee participation in local sport events, such as the Lausanne Urban Trail (with donations going towards local charities), and regularly offers hospitality internships and apprenticeships to students from nearby schools and universities. All employees are given free access to the fitness centre during off-peak periods. The hotel also works with local professional reintegration associations to offer underpriviliged applicants the opportunity to learn industry skills. The restaurant sources seasonal ingredients from local suppliers, and collaborates with local start-up Beelong to compare the environmental impact of food products.
