Château Le Cagnard

This hotel is seasonal and is welcoming guests from November to March.

A medieval castle perched on a Provence hilltop above the sparkling Mediterranean sea

Walk in the footsteps of knights and painters at Château Le Cagnard. Originally built to defend nearby Chateau Grimaldi, the 19th century saw this hilltop hideaway become part of Provence’s flourishing art scene. Today, you’ll find reminders of this rich history throughout Château Le Cagnard – alongside all the makings of a luxury country retreat.

Each boutique bedroom captures this rural region’s rustic charm, with cool colours, original wooden beams and elegant period furnishings. Unwind with an in-room massage, or take in the famous Provence light from your private sun terrace. Venture out and explore, or pick a book from the library and get cosy by the fire. Savour local specialties beneath enchanting murals by Wery, a contemporary of Matisse. Or dine beneath the sliding ceiling, where hand-painted panels glide back to reveal clear blue skies and starry nights.

Step outside and you’ll find yourself in historic Haut-de-Cagnes, renowned as the ‘Montmartre of Provence’ at the turn of the 20th century. Stroll through winding alleys where bright flowers trail from the houses, or take the hotel shuttle to Cagnes-sur-Mer. Unwind on the beach, or spend the day sailing aboard a private yacht. Nice, the French Riviera’s stylish capital, is also nearby.

Enjoy your stay!

Beautiful, romantic hotel

We were picked up by the complementary shuttle service, offered bottle water upon arrival, and the. given a tour of this incredibly beautiful hotel. A unique hotel, perfect for the last night of our trip

The hotel is in a Beautiful location, perched on the top of a hill and had an olde world feel to it. The bed was the most comfortable we slept in during our trip, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, however the replenishment of some of the items was a bit slow once they ran out Read more[SPLIT]Read less- it is however on a stunning terrace so if we were to come back we would ensure we had another 20 minutes to enjoy it.

A wonderful hotel with all the charm and character an ancient building gives.

Dinner was exeptional. Wonderful views and great service. My only comments would be a lack of information/directions on where to park and how to best reach the hotel. The information could be more comprehensive with detailed directions/instructions.

The staff and ambiance make this a must stay on the Cote d-Azur

From the time we arrived to the time we had to leave, the staff were attentive, helpful and knowledgeable but not intrusive. We stayed four nights and dined at the restaurant two nights. Our waiter, Sam was personable, genuine, knowledgeable about the food and wines, made great suggestions and was Read more[SPLIT]Read lessquite engaging. The hotel itself is an island of tranquility sitting at the edge of town, above the busy streets in the ancient village with the Grimaldi castle. Fantastic views of the coast and surrounding hills from the restaurant and our room. We had a private terrace with our huge room. We thought the parking would be an inconvenience because we had to park at the bottom of the hill, below the village. The roads in the village are tiny and twisting and impossible to navigate with anything other than a micro car. However, the hotel staff were happy to take us to and from our car whenever we needed to go. This place completely met our expectations of a small, intimate, romantic get-away.

Perfect visit at the Le Cagnard - again!

We reminisced our honeymoon by visiting Le Cagnard again this summer. The nicest detail of so many was that the receptionist remembered/had bothered to check in which room we stayed the previous time. How sweet is that!

AWESOME, AMAZING, and totally incredible!

While, I have lived in, and been to Paris many times; never had I been to the south of France. My stay was incredible. Biking along the Cote D'azur, touring the Renoir museum, getting lost in the town and meandering through the Grimaldi Castle--are all things that made my trip so special. The service Read more[SPLIT]Read lessand attention from this staff is beyond compare. From the moment I arrived until I left I was treated as though I was the only guest. The room was beautiful and the restaurant was absolutely fantastic!

Hidden Gem in Medieval Village

Chateau Le Cagnard is perched upon the top of a lovely medieval village. The staff are excellent, hotel is well appointed, and the restaurant is superb. I would like to experience dinner when the roof is opened, which, would be amazing I'm sure. The location is a little difficult to access, but once Read more[SPLIT]Read lessyou're there plenty of cafes and restaurants are easily accessible.
