A former fish hatchery turned luxury hotel, La Peschiera promises your own slice of paradise on Puglia’s shores. With just a handful of artfully designed rooms and suites, and a private stretch of sand at your disposal, this boutique resort is utterly exclusive.

Natural stone walls, thatched canopies and crisp, white interiors give La Peschiera a cool, calm look. But the oceanic backdrop takes the starring role. Gaze at the Adriatic from your terrace, dip your toes in the water at the hotel’s beach, or melt away any tension in the sauna. There are seven pools to choose from, too – so no two days spent on a stylish sun lounger will be the same. When it’s time to eat, La Peschiera’s restaurant, recipient of two prestigious Gambero Rosso Forks, serves fresh seafood on a lantern-lit terrace right beside the water.

Beyond the shore-side beauty, there’s plenty to see and do. For a cultural fix, venture inland and you’ll discover Puglia’s countryside, peppered with fascinating sites or travel along the coast for the historic town of Monopoli. The archaeological wonders of Torre Egnatia and Grotte di Castellana – a spectacular set of caves – are just a few miles away. The UNESCO World Heritage town of Alberobello, with its enchanting cone-topped trulli, is well worth a visit too.

While the outdoor terrace, set on the rocks just above the water, is a beautiful al fresco dinner spot. Take it all in as you feast on fresh seafood accompanied by Italian wines. For something a little more intimate, the hotel can even arrange dinner on your private terrace.
