La Roqqa is seasonal and welcoming guest from April to November.
La Roqqa
Tranquillity meets culture at an exclusive Tuscan sanctuary
La Roqqa’s relationship with the local community and its environment is clear to see. From its construction to its day-to-day management, eco-awareness runs through the hotel – locals, hotel staff and guests are regularly invited to participate in beach cleans, protecting the local landscape. Inside, the décor is inspired by the glamour of 1960s Italy, each element carefully considered and effortlessly sophisticated. For a restful morning, head to the hotel's Isolotto Beach Club a serene haven nestled on Porto Ercole's sandy shores. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll or a quick ride with the electric minivan, you'll have easy access to this idyllic setting, where you can relax, soak up the sun, take a refreshing dip, socialise, and fully embrace the authentic Italian villeggiaturaRead more[SPLIT]Read less experience. Alternatively, head to the sun-soaked rooftop terrace – the ideal place to sit back, drink in hand, as the waves ripple through the harbour. Then when you’re ready, settle into the restaurant overlooking the archipelago for Mediterranean-style culinary excellence.
Outside the hotel, meander through Porto Ercole’s narrow streets taking in the Tuscan heat, local heritage, and views across the Mediterranean. For maximum wow factor, start your day with a hike into the hills and explore Forte Filippo at sunrise. Art lovers and pottery fanatics, enter the world of artisanal craftsmanship – try your hand at a ceramics class in a local workshop. Or, for more time outside, follow an expert through the hills, collecting aromatic herbs en route. Then return to the hotel, bounty in hand, to add some zing to your bespoke cocktail.
Enjoy your stay!

Actively sustainable luxury hotels
Environmentally Conscious
This plastic-free property is entirely decorated with sustainably-made furniture (either from recycled or all-natural materials), styled by and sourced from local artists and artisans. Guests are gifted aluminium flasks on arrival, which can be refilled from special filtered taps in every room, and are shuttled down to Porto Ercole and the hotel’s beach club in electric vehicles (soon to be housed in the solar panel-covered car park). La Roqqa produces its own olive oil, is working towards making its own wine, alongside preparing an on-site vegetable garden – and works with the local church and NGO, Caritas, to ensure leftover food is delivered to those in need on a daily basis. The team also carry out regular clean-ups of the town and local beaches.
Cultural Custodians
Set along the storied peninsula of Monte Argentario, La Roqqa is within easy distance of ancient Etruscan archaeological sites, the indoor-outdoor sculptures and art installations at the Tarot Garden, and the Corsini Botanical Garden (which hosts art, music, literary, and scientific events throughout the year). The great painter Caravaggio lived out his last days in Porto Ercole, and is buried just outside the coastal town – ask the hotel about visits to the tomb, located beneath a monumental arch topped with a ceramic fruit basket inspired by the Renaissance artist’s famous still-life works. La Roqqa collaborates with local artisans from the Michelangelo Foundation, a non-profit organisation that celebrates and preserves Italian craftsmanship while supporting young creatives, to display and sell artworks in the hotel’s common areas.
Community Minded
Hiring directly from the local community is an important part of La Roqqa’s community-centric ethos, in addition to offering progressive training programmes (including English language courses and soft skills workshops). The hotel actively supports L’Orto Giusto, a social cooperative in nearby Orbetello employing young people with disabilities to grown organic fruit and vegetables, by sourcing fresh produce from the garden and encouraging staff and guests to visit. Traditional Tuscan dishes made using ingredients from local farmers and fishermen are served in the hotel’s restaurants, and are incorporated into cooking classes which showcase regional techniques and flavours.
