As you explore this architectural treasure trove, look out for the stone-carved grotesque masks and gargoyles supporting the wrought iron balconies. Soak up the classic ambiance of the large, airy lounges which flow through to the nine air-conditioned bedrooms and suites - each with their bespoke wooden and leather furniture and soft, white linens, all promise film set worthy views. Garden of delights

After a long day exploring historic monuments and palazzos, lie back and recuperate on one of the luxurious sun beds in the hotel’s lovely walled garden. Tucked away from the vibrant sights and sounds of Noto, this peaceful retreat fills the air with the fresh scent of lemon trees and palm trees. There’s also an honesty bar for when you fancy a drink or delicious bite to eat. It will include a selection of the best spirits and wines, light drinks and nibbles such as Sicilian olives, local cheese and famous cherry tomatoes.

Baroque art and soul

Following the devastating 1693 earthquake, the old town of Noto was transformed into what became known as Sicily’s ‘stone garden town’. Perfectly proportioned along late baroque ideals, dome crowned churches sit side-by-side, flanked by endless staircases and intricate iron balustrades. Time will fly by as you explore the main sites, including the Monastero del Santissimo Salvatore, the Cathedral of San Nicolò, and the graceful, porticoed Palazzo Ducezio.

This is a relatively newly renovated boutique hotel with only a handful of rooms. I didn't have the opportunity to see any of the other suites, but it's my understanding that each room/suite is individually decorated. The balcony overlooked the main street but we heard nary any late night noise. The family that owns this property and two other SLH affiliated properties (Carlotta and Ducale) in Taormina should be applauded for their staffs.
