The Gainsborough Bath Spa
Tapping into Georgian era elegance in beautiful Bath Spa
Capturing the best of Bath, The Gainsborough is a newly created hotel with an old soul. Its grand façade and colonnades are straight from the 1800s, the spa is exclusively shaped around the Roman’s thermal pools, but the boutique hotel spirit is perfectly pitched at modern travellers.
Bedrooms combine period details with contemporary comfort: there are two-poster beds made for sinking into and sash windows for soaking up the Georgian views. Bath Spa Rooms come with roll tops, scented candles and direct access to the thermal waters – while the Bath Spa Suite takes serenity up another notch. Dive into the Spa Village, a truly unique space, and finish the day by dining on contemporary British cuisine in The Gainsborough Brasserie.
Whether you’ve packed high heels or hiking boots, the best of Bath is at your feet from The Gainsborough. Indulge all those period drama fantasies by taking a turn around the Royal Crescent, dip into Roman Britain at the Baths and Pump Room, and discover the incredible history of the Abbey. When it comes to shopping and eating, Bath has a real independent edge – so you can hop from boutique to brasserie to barista-led café. Then explore the Cotswold countryside by walking the Skyline, a spectacular circular footpath that skirts the city.
Enjoy your stay!
Our Hotel
The joys of the springs
The Gainsborough’s award-winning Spa Village is about immersion in pure luxury. Classical columns and mosaic floors echo its Roman heritage, with the Bath House Circuit offering an introduction to the city’s thermal waters. Here, the ancient and modern are in perfect harmony. So, you’ll have the chance to experience tatami treatment rooms, infrared saunas, sleek relaxation spaces and crystal sound bath sessions. Not to mention aquatic therapies and treatments rooted in Asian philosophy.
The fine art of afternoon tea
The Gainsborough’s artfully created afternoon tea is served in the Canvas Room. This sophisticated space reflects the hotel’s modern vintage flair in the polished mirrors and gold accents – setting the scene for this quintessential British tradition. Expect airy scones, alongside picture-perfect pâtisserie and loose leaf tea blends – or champagne, for dialling up the decadence.
