Every element of this Laos resort is designed for relaxation. Teak and bamboo bungalows, white tents and palm-topped cabins emerge from beautiful gardens that flow down to the river’s edge. Transforming a rundown teak plantation into a flourishing organic farm with botanical gardens, The Namkhan takes ongoing care of the land and its now fertile soil – which is pesticide-free and irrigated by the nearby Nam Khan River. Much of the produce you’ll dine on is homegrown (you can learn more by joining one of the educational garden walks with informative QR codes next to each plant), supported by a zero-waste kitchen. The hotel is entirely plastic-free and mostly solar powered, offering mountain bikes and electric scooters to explore Luang Prabang.

Cultural Custodians

The riverside rooms at The Namkhan were sustainably built by a team of local carpenters using native teak wood, bamboo, and recyclable grass on the roofs. The interiors are filled with artworks and handicrafts made by Luang Prabang artisans, and every bamboo piece is handwoven by Mae Souk, the hotel’s resident bamboo weaver (who leads weaving workshops with guests to create traditional baskets and tea filters, paired with the hotel’s own organic tea blend). Gather vegetables from the hotel’s gardens, then learn how to prepare a five-course Laotian farm-to-table feast with The Namkhan’s chefs.

Community Minded

Many of The Namkhan’s staff members hail from the surrounding villages, and benefit from living onsite, with ongoing training opportunities and healthcare costs covered. Famers from neighbouring provinces are invited to visit the hotel and exchange their knowledge and skills, helping the community grow and work together. The hotel’s boat transports guests down the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers to visit various cultural sites and locally owned businesses, including Ban Chan Pottery House (run by the Lamphet family). The hotel has also dedicated one of its fields to shelter and care for around 20 stray dogs, in the hopes of helping them find forever homes with visitors.

At the Farm to Table restaurant, Laotian dishes are served with a side of positivity. Energy exchange is the ethos underpinning each plate: between diner and server, kitchen and farm, flavour and texture. Fresher-than-fresh salads are a staple – try the Zingy Papaya Salad or traditional Lao Laarp in the lovely open-air dining room.

Served Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner The Farm to Table Restaurant provides positive energy through food so wellbeing can grow within all of us. Located at an elevated position in the heart of our resort with a beautiful view. The menu is a mix of traditional Lao such as Papaya Salad- Laap and Or Lham and western dishes of Tomato Bruschetta- Carbonara and our infamous Buddha Bowl to name a few. We also have a set menu for the little ones and vegetarian and vegan options.

Infinity Pool and Bar

Served Meals: Lunch Bask in the Laotian sun and savor the convenience of ordering delicious dishes from our farm-to-table restaurant available for enjoyment by the pool. Relax by our beautiful infinity pools- including a smaller hydro massage pool nestled in our tropical garden. Enjoying our hotel swimming pool too much to want to leave for lunch- Order from our full menu of refreshments including smoothies fresh juices and cocktails at the hotel swimming pool bar between 11am and 7pm

Shaded by tropical plants, with tinkling waterfalls and a hidden grotto-like feel, the Jungle Spa is a haven within a haven. Here East meets West, with features including a Finnish sauna, private treatment rooms, and a long list of indulgent therapies, from traditional Lao massages to a full-body Mekong River salt scrub.
