Things to do

NATURE
It’s not all about the saltwater in Puerto Plata. In just half an hour’s drive you can visit Charcos de Damajagua, with 27 different pools and cascading waterfalls. For an invigorating and refreshing experience, you can slide from pool to pool.

WATER
Water skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving, banana boat rides – you name it. You can play your way on the water. Why not set out from your luxury hotel on an exclusive catamaran tour on the ocean.

LANDMARKS
You don’t need to go to Rio to see Christ the Redeemer. There’s a small replica right here, and you can take a cable car to the statue at the top of a nearby mountain. There’s a lake and a cave up here as well, and you’ll have a great view of Puerto Plata down below.

Top Tip from SLH

If you want to rent a lounger on the beach, don’t take the locals’ first offer. Wait for them to offer again, and they’ll often give you a better price.
