Introducing Kobe

Compact and picturesque, most things can be reached on foot from your luxury hotel. It’s a relaxing way to experience this ancient maritime gateway.

Things to do

LANDMARKS
Simply wander the attractive neighbourhoods, discovering fine dining and authentic eating opportunities in the many restaurants and cafes. However, do try the Shin-Kobe Cable Car that soars to a mountain ridge 400m above the city, or, after dark, the vibrant bustle around Sannomiya Station.

HISTORY
Kobe is defined by its fantastic waterfront and cosmopolitan flavour. It has served as a maritime gateway to China since the very earliest days of trade with the country. Having begun to trade with the West in the mid 19th century, it remains an important port today. Famously, the city is home to the highly prized Kobe beef.

CULTURE
A luxury city break in Kobe will be flavoured by the city’s international spirit. Minutes beyond your boutique hotel you’ll discover Nankinmachi, the bright and exciting nerve centre of Chinatown. Or explore the peaceful hillside neighbourhood of Kitano where the winding streets and houses have a distinctly Euro-American feel.

Top Tip from SLH

The Nunobiki Falls are a refreshing surprise – a stone’s throw from the Station.
