The locals call it ‘Margs’ and you can see why they’re so affectionate towards it. A chic town amid gorgeous beach resorts that play host to some of the world’s best surfing. All around are vineyards producing premium quality wine, and the landscapes are stunning too.

WATER
If you’re a confident surfer, the huge swell along the coastline here should be right up your street. But even if you don’t want to dip your toe into the water, why not come and watch? The Margaret River Pro surfing competition is held here every year.  

DRINK
If you like wine, chances are you already know about Margaret River. This is the home of some of Australia’s most famous, and full-bodied, wines. The weather and location combine to create ideal conditions for grape growing. Be sure to taste the local produce while you’re here.  

LANDMARKS
The coastline is gorgeous around here, but you’ll find lots to marvel at inland too. Caves seem to stretch forever into the earth, and you’ll also find eerie eucalyptus forests – and you’ll also find towering karri trees forests.

Six caves in the area are open to the public and, if you’re an experienced caver, you can apply for a permit to access other ones too.
