ADVENTURE
The underwater caves and mangrove forests of Belize. The breathtaking lakes and waterfalls of Nicaragua. The rainforest canopy trails through Honduras. You don’t have to go far off the beaten track in Central America to find yourself on an adventure. Peppered with ancient sites, this was once the land of the Maya. Scale their stone temples that rise up from Central America’s landscapes and you’ll find yourself stepping back in time.
WILDLIFE
Central America does safari like nowhere else. Ready your camera in Costa Rica and Honduras where macaws, toucans and brightly coloured frogs peek out from trees. A picture of the elusive jaguar is particularly prized. Swap rainforest for the ocean bordering Nicaragua and you could spot humpback whales. In Belize you can really get up close and personal to the wildlife – with the help of a snorkel. It’s home to the second largest barrier reef on the planet.
BEACHES
With its white sands backed by emerald forest, Nicaragua feels like one of Central America’s best-kept beach secrets. Relax the days away, or surf and kayak your way along the shores. In Costa Rica, the coastline isn’t just for sun worshipping and snorkelling. Here leatherback turtles come to nest, and you can learn about them on a wildlife tour. If you’re not staying near a beach, you’re rarely far from a breathtaking waterfall in Central American forests.
